About The Turquoise Set Gold English Cylinder
An early 19th-century English cylinder watch in a turquoise-set gold open-face case. The full-plate gilt keywind fusee movement features a plain cock with large diamond endstone, a polished steel Bosley regulator, and a plain flat three-arm gilt balance with blued-steel spiral hairspring. The polished steel cylinder and large brass escape wheel have pivots set with endstones.
The gold-matted dial has applied gold Roman numerals and gold hands. The drum-shaped 18-carat gold open-face case is engine-turned, with turquoise-set bezels and applied gold decoration, an engine-turned middle and back, and a gold bow with applied gold decoration. Maker’s mark “LC” below a scroll, with number corresponding to that on the movement.
