About The Rare Gold Decorated Watch and Chatelaine
A mid-18th-century French verge in a rare gunmetal steel case with three-color gold decoration and matching chatelaine. Full-plate gilt fusee movement with pierced and engraved bridge cock, steel coqueret, and gilt three-arm balance with blue steel hairspring. White enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, pierced gilt hands, and large silver regulator. Square baluster pillars. Steel case with narrow gold bezels, gold hinge, and applied gold geometric border; central back decoration depicts a couple in a garden. Matching gunmetal chatelaine with pierced buckle and oval cartouches echoing the watch design.
