A late 18th-century Swiss verge watch in a pearl-set gold and enamel case. The full-plate gilt fusee movement features a finely pierced and engraved bridge cock with steel coqueret, a plain three-arm gilt balance with blued-steel spiral hairspring, and a silver regulator dial with gilt indicator. The watch is wound through the signed white enamel dial with Arabic numerals and blued-steel hands.

The gold open-face case has pearl-set bezels, a gold pendant and bow, and an unusual back decorated with red and gilt enamel on a black ground and set with white stones. At the base is a stylized sun beneath a gilt-decorated red enamel arc, with a crescent moon set with white stones above.
