A late 18th-century English cylinder watch in a fine pearl- and diamond-set gold and enamel case, accompanied by a matching chatelaine. The full-plate fusee movement features a gilt dust ring, pierced and engraved round cock, steel regulator on the top plate, and a plain three-arm steel balance. Polished steel cylinder and large brass escape wheel; winding is through a white enamel dial with radial Arabic numerals and gold arrow hands.

The gold consular case is richly set with diamonds and pearls. Translucent dark blue enamel bezels, bordered by narrow white enamel, are each set with a row of large split pearls. The back displays translucent blue enamel over an engine-turned ground with applied white-metal decoration set with diamonds, including a large central diamond surrounded by split pearls. The oval gold and enamel pendant features a button to open the sprung bezel.

The matching chatelaine includes a gilt clip supporting an oval gold and enamel cartouche with diamond-chip decoration. A central chain of two rectangular gold and enamel links is flanked by two pearl chains, supporting an octagonal cartouche set with a small lock of plaited hair and diamond chips. The watch is suspended from a short chain of two diamond-set links terminating in a gold spring clip with threaded safety collar. Four additional pearl chains support two gold and enamel bells with pearl tassels, a gold and enamel seal, and matching key. The ensemble is housed in a later glazed red morocco presentation case lined with gray velvet and fitted with a folding easel stand.
