About The Gold Swiss Quarter Repeating Ruby Cylinder
An early 19th-century Swiss quarter-repeating ruby cylinder watch in a gold open-face case. The keywind gilt Lepine-calibre movement features a suspended going barrel with polished steel stopwork, a plain cock with polished steel regulator and temperature-compensation curb, and a garnet endstone set in a polished steel coqueret. The plain three-arm gilt balance has a blued-steel spiral hairspring, with ruby cylinder and steel escape wheel.
The push-pendant quarter repeater strikes on two rectangular-section polished steel gongs. The white enamel dial has a sunk subsidiary seconds, Arabic numerals, and blued-steel hands. The engine-turned 18-carat open-face case has an engine-turned middle and a sprung back opened via a button in the band. The watch is wound and set through the signed gold cuvette.
