A 20th-century Swiss enamelled singing bird box with silvered mounts and an integrated oval watch. The small lever watch movement is fitted into the front of the box, wound and set by a crown beneath. It has a silvered oval dial with a gilt centre and blued-steel hands.

The singing bird mechanism, driven by a going barrel and wound by a key from below, uses small bellows to supply air to a variable whistle controlled by cams and levers. Pulling the side rod activates the performance: the oval lid lifts, the bird appears, turning side to side, flapping its wings, and moving its beak. When the song ends, the bird drops back and the lid closes.

The rectangular box stands on four small ball feet, its sides decorated with translucent red enamel over engine turning, framed by engraved silvered mounts. The repoussé oval lid features a scene of a couple embracing on a bench, surrounded by birds.
