About The Decorative Gold French Repeating Pocket Watch
A small late 18th-century French quarter-repeating verge watch in a diamond-set gold consular case. The full-plate gilt fusee movement features a finely pierced and engraved bridge cock with steel coqueret, a plain three-arm gilt balance with blued-steel spiral hairspring, and a silver regulator dial with blued-steel indicator. The push pendant activates the quarter repeater on blocks in the case.
The fine white enamel dial, with Roman and Arabic numerals, is wound through the dial and fitted with pierced, stone-set hands. The gold consular case has applied two-colour gold decoration over a matted ground, set with a band of small diamonds around the bezel and a diamond monogram on the back.
