An early 19th-century English cylinder watch by Viner, housed in a decorative three-colour gold open-face case set with turquoise. The keywind gilt Lepine-calibre bar movement has a suspended going barrel with polished steel Geneva stopwork, a plain cock with polished steel regulator, and a plain three-arm polished steel balance with blued-steel spiral hairspring. The polished steel cylinder and steel escape wheel have pivots with endstones.

The attractive matted gold dial features applied two-colour gold minute markers, floral decoration at the centre, applied gold Roman numerals, and gilt hands. The substantial 18-carat open-face case has a ribbed middle, with bezels set with turquoise alternating with applied chased and engraved gold floral motifs. The matted gold back is profusely decorated with applied three-colour gold floral designs, the flower centres set with turquoise. The turquoise-set gold pendant and bow are enhanced with applied gold decoration.

The watch is wound through the gold cuvette, unusually decorated with crisp engine turning, and bears a number corresponding to that on the movement and maker’s mark “LC.” It comes in a fitted square red morocco presentation case lined with grey suede, with a small gold key included.
