An early 19th-century Swiss quarter-repeating cylinder watch in a rare pearl-encrusted gold open-face case. The skeletonized three-quarter plate gilt key-wind movement features a suspended going barrel with polished steel stopwork, plain cock with blued steel regulator, plain three-arm gilt balance with blued steel spiral hairspring, polished steel cylinder, and steel escape wheel. The watch strikes the quarters via a push pendant on two rectangular-section polished steel gongs.
The gold engine-turned dial displays Roman numerals with gold hands. The fine gold open-face case is decorated with large split pearls on the bezels, while the back is entirely covered with hundreds of tiny split pearls arranged in a geometric pattern. The trefoil bow allows winding and setting through the gold cuvette. Accompanied by a pearl-set key and short gold chain.
