An early 19th-century Massey type three-lever watch by Samuel Tobias with a decorative gold dial in an engine-turned gold open-face case. The half-plate gilt keywind fusee movement has a sprung dust cover, Harrison’s maintaining power, an engraved cock with diamond endstone, and a plain three-arm steel balance with blued-steel spiral hairspring. The watch features an English Massey type three-lever escapement.

The gold dial has an engine-turned ground with applied gold Roman numerals, and the centre and border are decorated with applied foliate three-colour gold ornamentation and gold hands. The engine-turned 18-carat open-face case has chased and engraved middle and bezels, and the watch is wound and set through the gold inner dome. Maker’s mark “W” in a shield.
