About The Decorative Gold Quarter Repeater with Offset Dial
A fine early 19th-century Swiss quarter-repeating cylinder watch with offset dial in a decorative three-colour gold open-face case. The keywind gilt-bar movement has a suspended going barrel with polished steel stopwork, a plain cock with garnet-set polished steel coqueret, and a blue-steel regulator. The plain three-arm gilt balance has a blued-steel spiral hairspring, with a polished steel cylinder and steel escape wheel. The quarter repeater is activated via a push pendant and strikes on two polished steel rectangular-section gongs.
The engine-turned gold dial features an offset chapter with Roman numerals and blued-steel Breguet hands. The three-colour gold case is decorated with applied gold foliate motifs on the bezels and back. Buttons on either side of the gold push pendant open the sprung back and bezel. The watch is wound through the plain gold cuvette and comes with a matching three-colour gold split ring.
